A while ago, I let you guys know that I had a chance to learn how to fly a glider (and become licensed) through my Air Cadet program.

I made it! Top 60 in eastern Canada, baby! I get to do the 6-week course and, assuming I pass, I will become a licensed glider pilot. Because why not?

How do you get the thing off the ground though? I mean... besides a tow?

You can either be towed by a light aircraft, or they can use a pickup truck and a bunch of pulleys to slingshot you into the sky.

Did yours have a retractable launch engine?

Do the slingshot one if you can. It will look cooler.

Stranger has happened...
We used to try to figure out how to flafly and get on ships, and stay as Army. After a few rides in a Grizzly, it gets kinda boring. And all the hot chicks went Air. The easy ones weuwent Army. The Sea Cadets were all short bus...
